A Queensland cane toad has been found in the front yard of a house in southern Sydney.
Menai resident Brian Elliott and his four-year-old daughter Kiana spotted the warty pest on their front verandah after returning home from a shopping trip on Thursday night.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) took it away to be humanely destroyed. Cane toads, introduced to Queensland in 1935, have colonised much of that state and the NT, but there was no sign of a NSW breeding population, the NPWS said.
